Flexible Grouping Management Success

This year I have really embraced flexible grouping and love it. My goal was to give students more responsibility and choice. To my surprise it has worked well. I am able to work with students in small groups, following a rotations schedule and differentiate the lessons. All while students work through their weekly work. Each student has a bookmark that is personalized for them and they are responsible for completing. Because we are still in a rotation format they are able to work through their personalized learning with choice: individually, with partners or in groups.
I still start each block with a whole group lesson, key skill review, or introduction to new standards. Then we break out and work through the standards for the week. Formative assessments are along the way weekly or bi-weekly.
I can not recommend this method enough. I really feel I have gotten to know the students strengths and weakness' with detail and am able to change things as needed daily.
